Meet the Creator

Jon “Bean” Hastings has been a professional cartoonist for nearly three decades. His first comic book, “Smith Brown Jones: Alien Accountant” was nominated for an Eisner Award. He followed that with a kid’s book about monsters called “Terrabella Smoot and the Unsung Monsters” and worked on SLG’s “Haunted Mansion” comics, based on the beloved Disneyland attraction. He brought Dr. Mondo to life in 2001.

While all that was happening, Jon also taught cartooning to hundreds of kids and adults, sat on the board of directors for The Cartoon Art Museum (where he edited two benefit books featuring over 50 creators), lettered the comic strip “Dilbert” for six years, designed a ghost-themed mini-golf course, and watched a whole lot of monster movies with his lovely wife.
